Cross-Platform Desktop Application Development

I build desktop clients where local state, secure handling and a responsive interface matter as much as the backend connection.

What this service covers

I build desktop clients where local state, secure handling and a responsive interface matter as much as the backend connection.

  • Windows, Linux and macOS client architecture
  • Local database and offline state
  • Backend or protocol integration
  • Secure storage and account flows
  • Background processes and system integration
  • Packaging and update strategy

How I build it

Desktop software often crosses a boundary between an interface and a local service or systems core. The interface should make connection status and recovery clear while the core owns sensitive operations.

Gumnam uses a Flutter desktop UI connected to a Rust core through flutter_rust_bridge. That separation keeps messaging protocol and cryptography in Rust while providing a cross-platform client.

Engineering decisions

Local data needs a defined retention and clearing policy. Automatic updates need signing and a distribution plan appropriate to the target platforms.

I choose architecture around the product's integration needs, not a desktop framework keyword. The deployment and updater details are scoped per project.

Related project work

Gumnam demonstrates a cross-platform desktop client connected to a local Rust service. Qbitcoin work also included a desktop wallet.

Technology and scope

Flutter, Dart, Rust, flutter_rust_bridge, SQLite and Python appear in the connected project work.

Getting started

Share operating systems, expected offline behavior, existing core libraries, storage needs and release channel. We can define the client/core boundary first.
